Background

In the districts of Durres, Elbasan, and Berat of Albania, this study looked at the effectiveness of a program to reduce violence against children in educational settings, both among teachers in schools and caregivers at home.

This program operates based on the assumption that new knowledge can lead to behavioral change. Save the Children’s program aims to reduce violence against children by providing a holistic curriculum to children, parents, and teachers, through a variety of sensitization channels such as workshops and handouts. This study examines the extent to which, in the short-term, children, parents and teachers have higher rates of reporting, and in the long-term, parents and teachers have reduced rates of physical and psychological violence against children.
